Words with Friends uses the Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon (ENABLE) dictionary to check each and every word you try to enter on the board. The ENABLE dictionary holds over 173 thousand words. Words with Friends has added a few extra words to the dictionary as well and even lets you suggest words that they will consider adding to their modified ENABLE dictionary so that they can be played in the future.

Here are the score values of each tile in Words with Friends which varies slightly from Scrabble:

  • 1 point – A, E, I, O, R, S, T
  • 2 points – D, L, N, U
  • 3 points – G, H, Y
  • 4 points – B, C, F, M, P, W
  • 5 points – K, V
  • 8 points – X
  • 10 points – J, Q, Z
